International incoming students are offered a wide range of housing options distributed across various locations. A housing of average comfort amounts around € 375 per month. Students have the opportunity to live either in student residences proposed by ESIGELEC, or in private rentals.
Student residences proposed by the school
Thanks to its agreements signed with public and private bodies, about 15 residences can receive students and trainees, according to their availability. The booking is done by ESIGELEC before arrival.
Private rentals, to be managed by the students themselves
For students wishing to live independently, ESIGELEC has a list of rentals, located near the school or in the city center of ROUEN. However, this option will have to be managed by the students themselves.
The residence permit is compulsory for non-European students and for a stay of more than 3 months in France. Concerned students must apply for a residence permit as soon as they arrive in France, with the assistance of ESIGELEC. Then, it takes about 3 months after arrival, to get the residence permit. Non-European students will have an appointment at the International Relations Office to comply with the residence permit procedure.
Health insurance is compulsory for all students and their enrollment at ESIGELEC. In the event of a health problem, students having a health insurance will be reimbursed to the extent of 75% to 80% of the health care’s expenses. Students will be helped by ESIGELEC to get it..
The currency in France is the Euro (€). Credit cards are commonly accepted by most commercial establishments. The international VISA card is the most common. All students have to open a bank account in France.
At the beginning of each academic year, bank representatives will assist students to open an account, in the school premises. If necessary, the ESIGELEC International Relations Office will be in charge of taking an appointment with the bank on the behalf of the students. Banks are located close to ESIGELEC, in the cities of Rouen and Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray. All French banks and some foreign banks have a branch in the city center of Rouen.

The best way to move in the city of Rouen is to take the bus or the metro.The city of Rouen and its surroundings have 61 bus lines and 2 metro lines.

SNCF is the national railway company. “Rouen Rive Droite” is the name of the train station in Rouen.

SFR, Orange, Bouygues and Free are the main mobile phone operators in France. Most of them offer cost effective plans (call time & internet access). Students can buy a mobile phone subscription in any mobile shops in Rouen.
The university cafeterias are run by the CROUS. A main course and a desert can be bought at a subsidized cost of € 4.50 to € 5. The cafeterias are situated at:
« Mont-Saint-Aignan »: University cafeteria of “Panorama University”. Meals are served in self-service with tickets. Cash payments are accepted.
« Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray » : University cafeteria of ESIGELEC. Meals are served on a self-service for which the CROUS issues a special card. Cash payments are accepted.
Students can purchase a plan from a range of attractive offers in any internet service providers, such as SFR, Free, Orange or Bouygues. Some packages include landline phone for local or international calls.
All students own a personal ESIGELEC email address (valid for the period of studies at school).
