International

Awarded the European EUR ACE label, ESIGELEC is developing and strengthening its partnerships with universities and businesses based abroad. Our aim is to increase students’ exposure to globalisation, support the international development of our partner businesses, reinforce the visibility of ESIGELEC within the training and research fields and finally to help promote the Haute Normandie region abroad. Spending a minimum of three months abroad is a requirement for obtaining the degree.

A truly cosmopolitan environment where 45 foreign nationalities make up more than 34% of students

Agreements with universities

Each year, in the context of established agreements with partner universities, ESIGELEC welcome foreign exchange students from around the world including Europe, USA, Canada, Russia, China, India and North Africa.

Foreign student admissions :

  • French speaking
The Integrated International Preparatory Cycle and the Engineering degree are both open to students with foreign degree. Oral examination centres have been set up in Morocco, western Africa and China. Joint preparatory courses have also been created with other schools in Senegal, Cameroon and Benin.
  • Non-French speaking
Linguistic and scientific adaptation courses have been set up to enable non French speaking students having a High School Certificate (A-Levels) and a Bachelor's degree to prepare for entry onto the Engineering programme.

Four Msc. programmes in specialist and vocational subjects, taught in English and accredited by the CGE (French Conference of top management and engineering Schools), have been created for non French speaking students having a Bachelor's degree (4 years degree).

Internationalisation of the curriculum

Thanks to the bilingual French/English majors, students can be introduced to an international environment without having to leave the school. The technology teaching is provided in English by around forty visiting professors from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, India, China and various other countries. The school also attaches great importance to language teaching.

A TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) grading for English of 750 points is required by the end of the course. Also, training in a second language is compulsory for the Integrated International Preparatory Cycle and advised for the Engineering degree with Spanish, Chinese, German and from this year, Japanese on offer.

90 agreements with universities, 650 businesses, 40 countries

The school has a network of almost 650 businesses who have all taken at least one student for a placement abroad. ESIGELEC currently works in partnership with 90 universities in 40 countries, as part of the European Erasmus programme. Countries include Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey in Europe.

Elsewhere we work with Algeria, Brazil, South Korea, Cameroon, Canada, China, USA, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Peru, UK, Russia, Senegal, Trinidad & Tobago and Tunisia.

Internship abroad

In industry – business placements account for three quarters of students’ time spent abroad. They may include one of the three compulsory placements required on the Engineering cycle.

At university – each year, many students at the school go to partner university research laboratories abroad in order to carry out an internship for the second or third year of the Engineering cycle.

Six months of study abroad

Students at the school are also able to spend a semester studying abroad at the start of the second year on the Engineering cycle. There are currently several European destinations to choose from.

An entire year abroad

At university, it is possible for students at the school to spend the third year of the Engineering cycle in a partner university abroad. Several destinations are offered – Canada, Spain, Finland, Mexico, etc. Certain destinations enable a double degree curriculum to be followed, including Germany, Canada, Ireland, UK (two universities) and USA (two universities). The course duration is therefore extended by a semester. Because of this, some universities request a contribution to fees.

In industry, students also have the opportunity to spend a placement year. This lasts 12 months, with a minimum 8 months spent abroad and takes place between the second and third year of the Engineering cycle.

Summer stay at a university

Students in the first year of the Engineering degree have the opportunity in June to go to a university in Mexico (Mexico State) or Russia (St Petersburg) for a short course in English which has been adapted to their requirements. In USA, some students will also spend six weeks at the ‘GLOBAL VILLAGE for future leaders of business and industry’® at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.

A financial contribution is required for the USA option.

Summer schools

In order to significantly improve the learning of English, ESIGELEC offers a summer schools trip to two universities in Ireland and Malta. This programme, which has a fee, lasts for one month and includes English lessons in the mornings followed by leisure and cultural activities in the afternoons. It is available to students on the Integrated International Preparatory Cycle and the Engineering cycle.

Financial aids

Students can apply for different types of financial aids from the Haute Normandie regional authority or the European Union (ERASMUS Study or ERASMUS Placement grants, for EU nationals only). ESIGELEC also provide financial aids.
