Humanities, Languages and Management Department

Humanities and Management

ESIGELEC offers its students an education which is as complete as possible by including non technological areas for 25% of the curriculum.

This is achieved through :

  • Teaching subjects as varied as economics, law, music, sociology, sustainable development, general accounting, marketing, ethics and management
  • The practicing of project management via the Initiative and Creativity Project
  • Supporting students by helping with their professional integration : providing a springboard for professional life and PPP(Personal and Professional career Planning)
  • An introduction to different engineering professions through the ‘Professional Approaches’ sessions
  • The possibility of following a double curriculum with the IAE in Rouen or a double degree with Rouen Business School or Audencia Nantes

Languages

ESIGELEC feels that studying foreign languages is very important.
English is compulsory for parts of the curriculum.
A team of 15 English speaking professors teaches a group of ten students by level. Support lessons in English are offered to the weakest students at the start of the year.
At the end of the second year the international TOEIC exam (Test of English for International Communication) is taken.
Lessons in a second language are compulsory for the Integrated Preparatory Cycle, and for the Engineering Cycle.
Spanish, German, Chinese and Japanese are taught on school premises.
ESIGELEC also has a multimedia language lab.

Library

Students are free to use ESIGELEC’s IT equipped library in order to carry out their research in technological or non technological fields. The library also has an important role in cultural openness activities.

Students also have access to 10 computers which are connected to the internet, more than 6300 books, 50 journals that the school is subscribed to (monthly publications, daily press, sport, economy, etc) as well as student placement reports from previous years. Access to a few digital resources is also available for around 40 students.

A notebook is made available for students to make suggestions for the library’s content and books can then be acquired to satisfy their requests.

Access

The lending service is available to all ESIGELEC students, academic staff and administrative staff

Opening hours :

  • 8.30am – 7.30pm, Monday to Thursday
  • 8.30am – 4.15pm, Friday

Registration

To be able to borrow material, registration is required through completion of a registration form. A code is then attributed by the lending department to enable books to be borrowed.

IRSEEM

Very close to ESIGELEC is the Research Institute for Embedded Electronic Systems. ESIGELEC students are able to use their facilities for practical work and for engineering projects. These facilities include two anechoic chambers including one which can accommodate a vehicle, a mode-stirred chamber (MSC), EMC measurement bench, test bench, virtual engine test bench, workstations, simulation tools, modelling software, etc.
Business network : IRSEEM is supported by a network of around 100 industrial partners, SMEs and large businesses from the automotive, aeronautics, electronics and telecoms sectors.
In 2011, the Embedded Systems Integration Campus will complete IRSEEM set-up. This platform will be devoted in particular to electrical and mechatronic systems.
