ESIGELEC in the future

  • The creation of an Embedded Systems Integration Campus – a global, collaborative research, technology transfer and business development project of an industrial nature, aimed at the aeronautic and automotive sectors. It will complete the current ESIGELEC set-up at the Madrillet site. This centre, which is dedicated to electrical and mechatronic systems, will be finished by 2011 and will complete the ESIGELEC and IRSEEM spectrum. It is being established around 4 platforms:

1. . A platform dedicated to navigation (image processing, simulation software, design tools and the development of embedded computers),

2. An EMC platform – Mechatronics – Microelectronics (modelling/simulation centre, electromagnetic investigation facilities),

3. . Hybrid engine and electric vehicle testing platform (Roller test benches, electronic instrumentation, analysis bay, engine block, gearbox and braking systems

4. Platform for nacelles (device which houses airplane jet engines): Laboratory shared by ESIGELEC/IRSEEM/AIRCELLE.

It will be operational in 2011 thanks to financing from Europe and the French government, the Haute Normandie Regional Council, the Seine Maritime Regional Authority, Rouen area community funding, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rouen and ESIGELEC. It will :

  • Enable ESIGELEC to be positioned more visibly in the fields of innovation and business creation, and in the areas of Energy, Sustainable Development and Biomedical Engineering.
  • Progressively increase our graduation level to 420 graduates, including 150 by work/study programme
  • Continue our pursuit of increased internationalisation :
    - Development of strategic partnerships (universities and businesses) in major developed and developing countries,
    - New non localised versions of curricula and the setting-up of partner establishments or subsidiaries
  • Installation of a branch at Satory, near Paris, as part of our involvement in MOV’EOTRONICS including the installation of equipment, training courses, research teams,
  • Reinforce our position in the French higher education community, by signing contracts with the French State and actively participating, as standard policy, in the development of new structuring tools for research and higher education such as PRES, competitiveness clusters, the Carnot Institute, etc.
