ESIGELEC’s mission is to train engineers to be able to enter an extremely diverse range of professions in the world of technology and more precisely, within the economy in general. The skills they will obtain will allow them to combine technology, environmental concerns, and decision making, keep an international perspective and retain an ability to evolve throughout their career.

The School also trains students in research at its research institute, IRSEEM. At the same time, it provides associated education in order to maintain the level of qualification and expertise for businesses.

Together, ESIGELEC and IRSEEM are heavily involved in the region’s economic development and resource management.

ESIGELEC have defined their development strategy on the basis of creating a deep relationship within the region, strong national visibility and heavy involvement on an international level.

Within this context, we have just developed a new project for 2009-2014 which draws on our new leadership, formed of the CCIR, the SIGELEC (graduates association), regional authorities (for Haute Normandie and the Rouen area), businesses (UIMM, AIRCELLE, EDF, France TELECOM, THALES Air Systems, VALEO, SYNCHRONIC) and members of the local higher education community (University of Rouen).

Our main areas of development will focus on :

  • Training engineers who can manage effectively, are independent, innovative, creative, and aware of technological, economic, societal and ethical issues.
  • Increasing our attractiveness as a place to study and our policy of social openness, while expanding our apprenticeship system to include 40% of courses, and reinforcing our commitment to equal opportunity policies
  • Continuing our international development through the pursuit of excellence by diversifying recruitment sources, regional offices and joint research and cooperation activities with universities and businesses.
  • Further increasing our work serving local sectors of industry (automotive, aeronautics, electronics, energy, telecommunications, etc), local economic development and remaining an attractive institution in the Normandy and greater Paris region.
  • Positioning IRSEEM as an essential research and technology transfer partner in France and internationally, by drawing on the creation of the Embedded Systems Integration Campus (CISE),
  • Being a producer of innovation and creator of business through industrial focused research, technology transfer and business start-ups,
  • Reinforcing our position within the French higher education community and research system by actively participating, as standard policy, in the development of new organisational tools such as PRES, competitiveness clusters, the Carnot Institute, etc.

Our aim, along with IRSEEM, is to permanently position ESIGELEC as a higher education engineering school among French market leaders and to facilitate its recognition based on the quality of its qualifications, teaching, research, international reach, interaction with businesses, its role in local economic development, and finally its actions within the community and its policy of social openness.
