Student accommodation

Students have access to university halls of residence but because of the high demand, it is essential that they contact CROUS before the March prior to the ESIGELEC entrance examinations if they want to obtain accommodation. Around 100 university rooms are also managed by ESIGELEC, intended primarily for students from other countries or the foreign French territories (information available on request when applying; subject to available places).

ESIGELEC also have information about furnished or unfurnished rooms to rent from property owners who contact the school directly. The list is regularly updated and available from the school reception office. It can also be obtained by calling +00 33 (0)2 32 91 58 58 or via the website http://www.logesige.fr.st/. Rental agencies or notaries also offer rooms for rent.

There are several hotels close to the school, at the technopôle site or on Avenue des Canadiens.

Help with accommodation

Subject to certain conditions, you could be eligible for financial assistance towards accommodation (APL or ALS). To find out, contact your local French social security department.

The areas

  • Rive Droite :

This is the ideal place to live if you wish to have a very full student lifestyle. The area of old Rouen is particularly pretty and very lively. Here are a few places that will appeal to everyone – the Place Cauchoise, the Place du vieux marché, Rue de la République, and the Hôtel de Ville area. If you can, try and find accommodation with allocated parking or close to a metro station because parking in the centre of Rouen can be difficult.

  • Rive Gauche :

The areas of the Rive gauche (Petit-Quevilly, Grand-Quevilly, Sotteville-lès-Rouen, Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, Petit-Couronne, Grand-Couronne) are very close to ESIGELEC by car, metro or bus.

  • Technopôle du Madrillet :

This is where ESIGELEC are located, in Saint Etienne du Rouvray. Students wanting to do activities outside of the school or in the centre of town will need to take note of the metro or bus timetable.
