24 hour challenge

Ever since 1984, ESIGELEC has taken part in the 24 hour Rouen Powerboat Race. This inshore competition takes place on the river Seine around the Ile Lacroix and brings teams together from lots of different nationalities. The association ended 2008 as world endurance champions in class 1 after events in Poland in July and Egypt in October.

During the 46th edition, on 2 and 3 May 2009, the students steered ESIGELEC to victory in the S850 class 1 category. Every year the results prove that a team of student engineers (drivers, mechanics, on supply vessels) is capable of competing at the highest level of competition.

The Africa Club

The CLUB AFRIQUE at ESIGELEC is a way to welcome new students from Africa and help them to integrate into French life and organise the different things they need to do related with the school.

It is also a dynamic environment open to people of all nationalities that have an interest in Africa. Different events throughout the year such as meals, conferences, performances by African artists and of course the traditional African Cultural Week, enable its members to discover and share their love for the continent.

ESIGELECTRONIX

The association is split into two parts – the electronics club, which enables students to assemble projects using the club’s equipment; and the E=M6 club whose objective is to participate in the French Eurobot Cup. Prevention & solidarity

The STOP Association at ESIGELEC has been in existence since 2000. Its main objective is to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of alcohol. During student parties, STOP carries out prevention activities initially and at the end of the evening, provides blood alcohol content tests. However, STOP doesn’t limit itself to prevention. The association is also focusing on people with disabilities. In partnership with an association from Rouen, STOP collects plastic bottle caps (from water bottles, milk bottles, etc). This year, the collection has been forwarded to the ‘One cap, one smile’ association which helps with the purchase of wheelchairs.

The BDA

The BDA organises events for ESIGELEC and runs the school common room where you will always be welcome.

CLUB FREE DOM – CARRIBEAN CLUB

This club brings students from the overseas French territories together. Their aim is to help other students and staff members discover their cultures through traditional dishes, cakes, and sharing the warmth of traditional song.

This year, the students have set up a newspaper called ‘Islands in the sun’, which is published each month. It highlights and shares Caribbean culture and information.
