Rouen, one of the best towns for students

Published the 20-11-2009

Rouen has more than 40,000 students studying a multitude of disciplines. It’s impossible not to bump into them at cultural or sporting events or parties and association get togethers !

They are spread over 9 major university establishments:

  • The University of Rouen (science and technologies, law science economics and management, human sciences, medicine and pharmacy, humanities and human science, sport science and physical education, etc)
  • The ERBA school of fine art
  • The ENSAN school of architecture
  • The IDS health and social services institute
  • The ESIGELEC, INSA Rouen, CESI, and ESITPA engineering schools
  • Rouen Business School

The aim of CESAR, (Rouen area higher education authority) formed in 2008, is among other things to develop student life. The ‘Lipdub’ festival, the Rouen student portal, the carnival, lectures – all of these events have taken place this year.

The ADEIN (Normandy engineering schools association) organises conferences and also the famous TEIN tournament (for Normandy engineering schools), where everyone taking part is desperate to win the trophy for their school!

During their studies ESIGELEC students can choose to follow a dual degree at the university (scientific or business management) or at Rouen Business School.

Engineering projects are also set up in conjunction with students from Rouen Business School as part of the MANAG’ING scheme.

Finally, student associations often have activities which cross over with other establishments (Student Department, Junior Business Club, JDC Sustainable development, etc), not to mention the many student parties !
