Rouen increases its eco-initiatives

The Rouen area authority’s strategic objective is to become one of France’s major eco-communities.

The metro, bus routes and TEOR already provide transport links to all areas of the town http://www.tcar.fr/

Free to use cycle parks allow people from Rouen to use a network of cycle routes which is regularly added to.

  • cy’clic, organised by Rouen Town Council, is a standard cycle hire system where users can hire a bike for one day, 7 days, 6 months or a year. The first 30 minutes is free http://cyclic.rouen.fr/
  • vélo’R, organised by the Rouen area authority, makes electric bikes (folding or standard) available for hire for 1 day up to several months. The folding bike is allowed on public transport (Metro, Bus, TEOR) http://www.agglorouennaise.fr/index.php?page=projets/velos/index_velos.php

For pedestrians, the paths in and around the centre of Rouen and down by the river also have some undiscovered gems.

Not to mention the large forests in the area (Forêt du Roumare, Forêt Verte, Forêt de la Londe, Forêt de Bord-Louviers), and the 8 hectare Jardin des Plantes which provides an unexpected breath of fresh air!

Next to the Technopôle du Madrillet site in Saint Etienne du Rouvray is the urban forest offering a rambling 100 hectares of walks and bike rides and the superb Maison des forêts !
