Collaborations with secondary schools and grammar schools

  • The ‘100,000 students for 100,000 school children’ programme. Each year around forty ESIGELEC students tutor secondary school children from the ZEP cluster (a partnership of 3 secondary schools).
    • The ‘Future engineer trail’ with the Lycée Aristide Briand in Evreux (Eure region) and its preparatory classes.
    • The ‘Preparatory trail’ with the Lycée Pierre Corneille in Rouen and its preparatory classes. We will also soon be working with the Lycée Les Bruyères in Sotteville Les Rouen, Lycée Le Corbusier in Saint Etienne du Rouvray, Lycée Flaubert in Rouen, Lycée Marcel Sembat in Sotteville Les Rouen, and Lycée Pablo Neruda in Dieppe.
  • Two ‘Success Ladders’, with the aim of supporting students from modest or unfavourable backgrounds, from the lower sixth level through to scientific preparatory classes (understanding of professions, tutorials, cultural openness, preparation for oral exams, etc).
  • The ‘Cercle Passeport Telecom’ programme - 7 telecoms companies sponsor students from inner city areas taking the ATS preparatory exam and provide tutoring to help them pass.

Work/study programmes

  • 27% of children admitted to our work/study programmes are the children of workers or employees and will be getting free, paid for education.
  • The number of work/study programmes places will increase from 90 to 120 by the start of the 2009 academic year. By the end of the year work/study programmes students should represent 30% of personnel.

Grants based on social criteria and merit

  • 20% of students received grants from CROUS in 2008/09
  • There is an internal system for awarding tuition fee exemptions granted by the CCIR from 100 to 900 € per year depending on household income and family and personal circumstances.
  • From the start of the 2010 academic year, awards of excellence will be offered to students from equal opportunities programmes and/or some foreign students, leading to a possible 50% reduction in tuition fees
  • School aids for students with disabilities will also be available, also provided by the Haute Normandie regional authorities and the European Union (Erasmus)
