90 exchange agreements in 40 countries
As part of partnerships signed with the universities, ESIGELEC hosts, each year, international students from Ireland, Spain, Turkey, Poland, the United States, Russia, China, India, Morocco, Tunisia etc. ... for an internship, a semester or a year.
Terms of welcoming students from partner universities
Through exchange programs, foreign students are treated the same way as local students. They have access to the same facilities and are subject to the same rules, including the evaluation criteria. However, they pay no tuition fees and if so, they continue to be levied by their home university. At the end of their stay, they are awarded a registration certificate of ESIGELEC and their participation in courses offered below.
When the university partner is located in Europe, the exchange program is made within the context of European program Erasmus. Since 1987, the year of its launch, this program has allowed more than 2 million young Europeans to participate in exchange programs between universities in Europe.

Interested students should inquire at the international relations department of their home institution.
1) The free choice courses
This course allows exchange students to freely choose the courses they wish to study, in agreement with their home university. The length of stay varies from a semester to a year maximum. Modules are chosen among most of those proposed by ESIGELEC, from Bachelor’s degree level (3 years of higher education) to the Masters level (5 years of higher education). All modules are eligible for ECTS credit points in order to allow the home university to recognize and validate the period of study.
Useful tips for choosing courses :
2) The English/ French bilingual courses
The majors are courses offered during the 2nd year of an engineering cycle (for more information- see majors in the Training section.) Most of majors are bilingual English / French, ie about 30% of courses are taught in English. Moreover, a major (ISE, embedded systems engineering) is completely taught in English. The majors are :
* Electronic and Telecommunications Systems Engineering, ISET
* Networks architecture and Security, ASR
* Engineering of Embedded Systems, ISE (bilingual + entirely taught in English)
* Information Systems Engineering, GSI
* Electrical Engineering and Transports, GET
* Automation and Industrial Robotics, ARI
* Communications, ICOM
* Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering, MCTGE
* Business Engineer, IA
* Finance Engineer, IF
3) The double degree programme
If there is a double degree agreement between their home university and ESIGELEC, foreign students who wish may, in agreement with their home university, prepare and get the engineer degree of ESIGELEC. This is a national degree (5 years of higher education, recognized by the French state and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. It confers the rank of Master, international equivalent to a Master's degree. The condition for obtaining is to follow all the teachings at ESIGELEC during the last four semesters of the engineering training (3 academic semesters + 1 semester internship in France or in another country) and meet the criteria for graduation applied to local students
4) Internships /Project works
In French industry
The French curriculum requires three training periods in industry. These are open to international students insofar as they have already studied an academic course at ESIGELEC. The internship department gives assistance to students in the procedures, but the search itself is the students responsibility. A reasonable level of French is necessary in order to find a course in a French company.
In the Research institute of ESIGELEC
IRSEEM, Research Institute in Embedded Electronics Systems attached to ESIGELEC hosts foreign trainees for a minimum period of 3 months up to a maximum of one year. Students work on projects set by ESIGELEC in agreement with the student and his home university. They are supervised by the School’s research professors. Some projects can be carried out entirely in English. At the end of the project, a report is required, and a viva voce examination may be held, if required by the home university
5) The short programmes
A program entirely in English is offered to students who do not speak French, but who wish to discover France. During the short period (2 to 3 weeks), students take technical courses in English, courses in French as a foreign language and attend a variety of lectures on French and European culture. They familiarise themselves with ultramodern French industry, during company visits, and visit places of outstanding interest. So that they do not feel excluded, they share lodgings with French students and are comprehensively introduced to all aspects of student life.
IRSEEM, Research Institute in Embedded Electronics Systems annually hosts more than 40 doctoral students, including 75% are of foreign nationalities. For more information, please contact Mrs Anne Louis, Director of Doctoral programmes at the following address :anne.louis@esigelec.fr
