ISGE-BF in Burkina-Faso

ESIGELEC supported the foundation of the High School of Engineering in Burkina Faso (ISGE-BF) carried out by the Chambre of Commerce Industry and Crafts of Burkina Faso, companies (Sonabel, Onatel, Brakina etc.), and supported by the Burkinabe and French governments.

ISGE-BF, which opened at the beginning of the academic year 2003, was formed to train advanced technicians in the field of electrical engineering by initial and further training, leading to a degree equivalent to the level of Secondary School Certificate + 2 years in Industrial Electricity. 3 programs are offered: Electrical engineering (2003), Networks and Telecommunications (2004) and Industrial maintenance in electronics and IT (2005).

ESIGELEC contributed to ISGE-BF’s foundation by supplying the initial engineering for building specifications, equipment, furniture, communications etc. It also provided a teacher who ensured the Management for 3 years, as well as technical and teaching assistance, support for recruitment of teachers and for their training.

The first stone of the building was laid in September 2004 in presence of Xavier DARCOS, Minister in charge of Development, Cooperation, Francophony and Burkinabe authorities.

Subsequently ISGE-BF became the location for the installation of a school for Electrical Engineers.

This project, resulting from the long-term partnership between Rouen CCI and Burkina Faso CCIA, is part of the cooperative relationship between France and Burkina Faso aimed at developing higher technological and professional education in West Africa

Joint Preparatory Cycles in Africa

ESIGELEC has developed:

Preparatory cycle in Dakar /Senegal
ESIGELEC has had partnership with ESMT in Dakar (Ecole Supérieure Multinationale de Télécommunications) since September 2004, when it set up a preparatory cycle.

Preparatory cycle in Yaounde /Cameroun
ESIGELEC has had partnership with the high school “LYCEE VOGT” in Yaounde since September 2007, when it set up a preparatory cycle.

Preparatory cycle in Cotonou/Benin
ESIGELEC has had partnership with the high school “College Aupiais” in Cotonou since September 2008, when it set up a preparatory cycle

In Casablanca
ESIGELEC has had partnership with “Lamrani Institute” in Casablanca allowing Moroccan students to enter the 1st engineering year at ESIGELEC after 2 years of preparatory courses in Morocco

The objective of these 4 joint preparatory cycles is to allow African selected students by ESIGELEC and our partners, to follow 2 years of preparatory classes in a university partner in Africa, and then to enter in the engineering programme for 3 years either at school or within a school partner in France or in Africa. The programme of 2 years of joint preparatory cycles is based upon the same model of the international integrated preparatory cycle at ESIGELEC.

For the academic year 2008/2009, 61 students were enrolled in the joint preparatory cycle in Dakar and 97 in Yaoundé.

China (relocated programmes + representative Office in Shanghai)

Relocated programmes : Linguistic and Scientific Adaptation Year

They have started in 2008 in China, with a cooperation agreement with Xidian University in X'ian and another with Huazhong University in Wuhan. During the 3rd and/or the 4th year, the university partners train and teach in French language locally students holding a Bachelor's degree. Then, they will be able to enter directly in the second year of engineering cycle at ESIGELEC in France.

Setting up of a representative office in Shangai

ESIGELEC has been developping cooperations with China since 1988, with a first signed agreement with a Power Institute of Nanjing. From 2001, our actions towards China have significantly increased.

Today we are working with 12 university partners in Shanghai, Wuhan, Beijing, Canton, Nanjing and Chengdu. We are developping with them cooperations in the following fields : research, training, recruitment, exchange programmes and doctoral mobility.

The managing direction of ESIGELEC has opened a Representative Office in Shanghai in order to strengthen and to develop our partnerships and actions since 2001 in China. The official launching took place on the 26th of October 2007 and is now run by Mrs Ying Liu in close collaboration with the managing direction and the director of international relations of ESIGELEC.

Our Chinese representative sitting there has several missions:

  • to promote ESIGELEC all over China (through medias, university meetings, education fairs,...)
  • to develop and to drive the Alumni Association in China
  • to visit the university and business partners of ESIGELEC
  • to help and look after our Chinese students before their arrival in France
  • to keep track of the Chinese students at ESIGELEC*
  • to be alert in the educational and economical fields

India (joint MSc.)

A new joint MSc. program awarding a double degree in Control and Embedded Instrumentation was accredited by the French Conference of Top Management and Engineering Schools (CGE) in 2009. This program is conducted by ESIGELEC and is carried out in partnership with MANIPAL UNIVERSITY.
The first semester takes place in Manipal from September to January, then the second semester is held in Rouen from February to June. The students can perform their internship either in France or in India for a period of 4 to 9 months. At the end of internship, a professional thesis submission (report and oral presentation) is required.

The first session has started in August 2009.

This double degree program allows students to get, under conditions :
- the label MSc. "Control & Embedded Instrumentation" of ESIGELEC
- the degree "Embedded Systems & Instrumentation" of MANIPAL UNIVERSITY
