Research activities at ESIGELEC take place at IRSEEM around the three areas of Electronics and Systems, Automation and Systems, and Instrumentation, IT and Systems. PhD training focuses principally on the PhD courses undertaken at IRSEEM but also on all Master of Research courses that ESIGELEC’s academic research staff is involved in.
For the last five years, ESIGELEC have seen a large increase in the number of PhD students attending the school due to the implementation of several collaborative research programmes with competitiveness clusters in particular and to a greater extent, regional, national and European research programmes. ESIGELEC currently have 40 PhD students who are spread over IRSEEM’s three areas of research and are attached to different doctoral schools.
89.5 % of PhD courses are taken at the SPMII doctoral school under the supervision of the University of Rouen, the University of Le Havre and INSA Rouen, with ESIGELEC as the joint partner.
5.25 % of PhD courses are taken at other French doctoral schools (Science & Health under the supervision of the University of Picardie Jules Verne, STITS (Systems, Telecommunications and Information Sciences and Technology) under the supervision of the University of Paris XI, and recently SUPELEC, and with ENS Cachan as joint partner). The remaining 5.25 % are taken at foreign doctoral schools (Algeria).
The framework and smooth running of these theses is overseen by a team of 24 academic researchers including 5 HDR holders (post PhD degree allowing the holder to teach PhD students).
